Product review: Rustoleum Restore Stain

Las year, we stripped, sanded and cleaned the deck and applied Rustoleum Restore Deck stain. Gorgeous color, easy application and cleanup.
And then it all went to hell.
By fall, there were peeling spots. This spring? Well.. That whole photo is worth a thousand words thing........
I am livid.
40 minutes on hold to get transferred for another 20 minute hold.
I have to supply photos, receipts, deck dimensions and then they will *walk me through* what went wrong. No way they are refunding me.
Sorry, Rustoleum, you get no more business from us!
Just an FYI. I followed directions and I'm very skilled with DIY projects.

Ack, it's coming!!!

*cue ominous music*

Storm Saturn, that is.
People.  It's freaking winter. It happens.

When did we start naming..snow? Storm Saturn is hitting the Ohio Valley.
So much scarier than.. 5-8 inches.
Ooooo.

Granted, I HATE having My People driving in this crap.
I would greatly appreciate it if snow would stop falling on the roads.
Snow isn't listening to me.

Why does everyone buy milk and toilet paper when we're getting a big snow?
The fear of modern man- being out of milk and tp.

To be fair, I live in fear of running out of coffee and bird seed.

Ranting...and OMG Earthquake!?

1.  Electric company scheduled power outage.  From 7am to 1pm.
And tells no one.  I had to hear it from the lady at the tiny post office, who heard it from her boyfriend..his neighbors works for electric co.
2:45 rolls around, I call and ask when the scheduled outage was going to end.
"Miss, we know this is an outage.  It's scheduled."
Am I suddenly speaking in a foreign language?
I want to know what the estimate is, since 1pm has come and gone.
"Miss, we don't like to give estimates...it disappoints our customers if we don't meet the time."
OMG don't get me started on disappointment in your company, Tiffany.  Your company tried to tell me the reason my power flips off every morning at 7 exactly...was squirrels.

2.  Sprint cell service.
I got yelled at for asking them why I was having service problems..
"There was an EARTHQUAKE, you realize? This caused a Mass Calling Event.  Did you not see the news?"
Did you seriously drop attitude on me, little man?
Noooo. I didn't see the news because I don't have electricity and my phone isn't working.  It took us mountain folk a while to confirm it was an earth-freaking-quake and I've never experienced a mass calling event before..and your POS website is down so I couldn't check the FAQs or forums.  Don't piss with me today.

3. Jackass fishing without a license while we're hiking this AM.
"Hey guys!  Good spot, huh? Hope no dumb @#$% game warden comes by..haw haw!"
You have 1 minute to empty that bucket and reel in that line, or I'm calling the police.  And game wardens. And park rangers.  THEN I'm "accidentally" letting my dogs loose.
"Bitch!"

Did you know...dogs trained to bark maniacally when you say "SIC BALLS!" will give regular men warp speed?
It's true.
My dogs also know "Neuter!" means to bark like maniacs.
It's epic.  I promise I'll get video.
My dogs have NO idea what sic balls means..they aren't attack dogs.  I just used creative training words.

4. Earthquake.
OMG. WTF.
WTFingF.
I'm sitting on the bar stool in the kitchen, munching my sandwich, when the house twitches like a cat's tail...and then continues to writhe for 10 seconds or so.
"Michael! What the hell was THAT!?"
"Could that have been an earthquake!?"
"Honey, in WV? Really???"

Famous last words.

Hope everyone in Blogland is ok and has gotten in touch with friends and family...that was some craziness.

Monday, August 15

Dramatic sigh...

Two nights of little sleep.
Last night I coughed and cussed and tossed and turned.  Michael finally bailed and went for the couch.  I don't blame him.
An improvement from the night before and the NyQuil twitching, though!
Forget that I have the plague...
We were supposed to leave today for our camping trip, but it's raining the next 3 days at our destination.
I'm not a Good Sport who willingly camps in a monsoon (and especially not with Plague).
All that fussing over air mattresses and locations and dates.
Ah well!

Yesterday, I took leftovers to the crows...but...someone was watching.

So much for the crows getting leftover baked beans and stale bread!

I love her desperate grip on the bun.  I feel that way about bread, too.

The turkey girls hurried through yesterday..with their poults! YAY!
Pardon the pic quality..it was pouring and I was in a hurry.

I haven't seen the girls in a while.  Thrilled to see them ..and the newbies.

I had to chase deer away from the garden early this morning.
The fawn triplets are doing well, fat and happy!  They were looking through the garden fence with interest, so I did my usual arm flapping and yelling.
I'm sure my neighbors think I'm batshit crazy.
Thank God they can't see me...they can only hear the insanity.

Saturday, August 13

BAH!

Forget allergies.  I'm sick.
By yesterday afternoon, my joints ached and I was running a 103 fever.
You know, when I had the kitchen buried under tomato sauce/paste supplies and couldn't stop.
Typical, right?

I run an almost paranoid-clean kitchen, but after realizing I was sick it was cleaner than most surgical suites!  I was making sauce for other people, too: "Here's your pasta sauce..and some plague germs!  Enjoy!"
My hands are red from the constant hand washing.
3 gallons of plain pasta sauce (so we can add meat or vegetables as desired), 9 half pints of tomato paste and 8 pints of salsa.
I just got the last of the dishes washed when Michael staggered in the door with eight pounds..EIGHT..of strawberries.  The very last of the local organics from a farm we love.
He's alive because he didn't know I was sick (I was too busy to call and whine).

Once again, he earned the Ultimate Husband title..because he didn't put a pillow over my face as I grumbled and tossed and turned and bitched.
I'm not a good sick person.  Being sick pisses me off.

We did have gorgeous skies yesterday..and I managed to be outside (sitting on the steps sneezing and cussing) when the starlings flew over!
I know fall is coming closer when the starling flock appears in the evenings.
The photos don't do it justice.  There's a stream of hundreds of starlings...all you hear is the rush of wings..it's fantastic!

We haven't seen Pig for 2 days...normal for this time of year...but I still worry about her!
I told the dogs "Watch for Pig", so Irie and Voodoo are keeping an eye out the doors and windows.
I know most of you will be on PigWatch with me, so I'll keep you updated ;)
