We lost Irie.

Tuesday night, she had emergency bloat surgery. She did very well through the next few days, but we lost her overnight Thurs/Friday AM. She was still hospitalized.
We are devastated. We love all our dogs, but Irie was something incredibly special.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. Please take this and live by it..."grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and speak of me often...'twas Heaven here with...I loved you so..."...this continues to give me solace since I lost my GSP 11 years ago...:)JP

  2. I am so sorry Sam! I can't even begin to imagine your sadness. Well, I can after our Z Cat going downhill so quickly but dang I remember when Irie was a pup.. that smile. I am thinking of you and Michael and hoping the memories of her are tucked close to your heart.

  3. I was with you on Facebook when it came down. Nothing can be said to soothe the pain or fill the void. It was so hard when I lost Freddy. It is still hard, but it does lessen over time. You won't ever forget, but the misery of missing her will get better. You will have pangs here and there, but they will become more manageable. Eventually you will smile again when a memory of her comes up. A memory of her doing something that used to make you laugh. I do know that the dog circle that was brought up was fantastic. I was about ready to go on a FB hiatus, to prove to myself I could stay off FB for more than a day or two but then this happened and I just couldn't stay away. I loved seeing Irie. I fell in love with all your dogs. I feel the loss very deeply. She will be missed.

  6. Hi Samantha....

So sorry for your loss! Been away from blogland for a while and didn't see this post until now. Sounds like Irie was well-loved and a special dog.

I honestly didn't think I would be this distraught at the loss of our Great Pyrenees....which happened only yesterday. We knew he was getting old and probably his time was coming soon. But he had been a part of our family for nearly 13 years and the pain was worse than I can recall feeling in a long time. Sitting with him and knowing his time was up was the most horrible agony I have ever felt. So, I can relate to what you are going through.
